3. Ready for the heat

While the abundance of talent on offense was apparent, it also was on the defensive line.

Penn State’s defensive line rotations went also four groups deep, with multiple players seeing action against Ohio.

The frequent rotations made it hard for one or two guys to have a big game, but many, especially Chop Robinson, showed promise during the game.

The big thing for next week against Auburn will be that this group is ready to defend the run. So far, Auburn hasn’t shown to be much of a threat in the passing game, but they want to pound the ball with their two talented running backs as much as possible.

As if it wasn’t hard enough the stop a team that wants to be physical upfront, the game will also been in some tough conditions. The temperate next week in Auburn is expected to be in the mid 80s, and the Alabama heat may be a bit more brutal in the middle of the afternoon.

Penn State is going to have to swap defensive linemen in and out in order to keep them hydrated and fresh for four quarters. Getting the younger guys experience against Ohio was critical for this reason and the staff did just that.

In addition to making sure Dani Dennis-Sutton and others received experience, veterans P.J. Mustipher and Adisa Isaac needed snaps to get their feet under them after coming off of season-ending injuries in 2021.

Penn State did what needed to be done in order to prepare as many defensive linemen as possible for the battle in Auburn.
