It’s gameday, and Penn State Football will take on the Ohio Bobcats today in the home opener for the Nittany Lions.

We obviously hope to see a comfortable win, and we hope to see this game put out of reach early so we have an opportunity to see what some of the backups can do.

For that to happen, though, these four players for Penn State Football are going to have to play some of their best ball.

Key player on offense – Kaytron Allen (RB)

Here we go again …

Penn State needs to establish a running game against Ohio on Saturday afternoon.

The offensive line plays a big role in their ability to do that, but I believe that with the right offensive line combination out there, that part of the equation will be taken care of.

That leaves the running backs.

One would assume that Keyvone Lee, Nick Singleton, and Kaytron Allen would all get a near equal number of carries like they did in week one. So to choose just one of those ball-carriers, I’m going with the back that had the best yards per carry average for the Nittany Lions last week: Kaytron Allen.

Allen and Singleton rushed for 31 yards apiece, but Allen had the better yards per carry average of the two true freshmen at 3.9.

We heard throughout fall camp that Kaytron Allen was turning heads, and now that he’s gotten his feet wet in D1 football, it’s time for him to show it. Penn State certainly needs him, or someone, to find a rhythm running the ball; and it needs to happen sooner rather than later.
