Defensive game ball – Joey Porter Jr. (CB)

After getting settled in, Joey Porter Jr. was as advertised at cornerback.

He finished the evening as not only Penn State’s leading tackler for the game with eight, but he also led the way with three pass deflections as he was draped all over Boilermaker wideouts all game long.

Plus, he came up with a fumble recovery that set up the Brenton Strange touchdown before halftime after Zakee Wheatley did an excellent job of knocking the ball free.

Penn State Football needed Joey Porter Jr. to play well to beat Purdue on Thursday night–he was even one of our key players vs Purdue–and he did.
