The week one win for Penn State Football was quite a roller coaster, but thankfully, there were some key players who stepped up and shined through to help the Nittany Lions start off the season with a win over Purdue.

These three players had a big impact on Penn State’s week one victory, earning each of them an unofficial Victory Bell Rings game ball.

Who are our game ball winners for offense, defense, and special teams for Penn State Football for week one of the 2022 campaign?

Offensive game ball – Mitchell Tinsley (WR)

In his first game as a Nittany Lion, Mitchell Tinsley did not disappoint.

He caught seven passes for 84 yards, including a touchdown which was the first of the night and the first of the season for Penn State.

It’s clear already through one game that Tinsley will be a staple of this offense, and could even emerge as the No. 1 receiver.

Some other players on the offensive side of the ball had a big play, such as Brenton Strange with his long touchdown catch before halftime or Keyvone Lee with his go-ahead touchdown grab with less than a minute to play; but Tinsley had two big plays.

Not only did he have the first touchdown of the night, but he also had a key run after the catch on the final drive that went for 27 yards, took Penn State deep into Purdue territory, and ultimately helped to set up the game winning touchdown. If he doesn’t make that defender miss, there’s a chance the Nittany Lions aren’t able to get downfield and they lose that game.

Mitchell Tinsley certainly made a great first impression with Penn State Football fans.
