Sean Clifford Stays Clean

No offensive predictions would be complete without mentioning the fourth-year starter. Whether or not fans want to hear it, Sean Clifford will go down as a top-five quarterback in Penn State history. The only aspect missing from his resume is a victory over Ohio State.

Last season, Sean Clifford was the offense. Plain and simple. When he went down with an injury the season fell apart. Clifford was asked to make up for the shortcoming on the offensive line, with the running game, and the disappointment of the tight ends.

Sean Clifford will enter this season, without having to learn a new offense for the first time in his career. That continuity and building of a game plan cannot be underestimated.

The third and final prediction for the offense against Purdue is…

Sean Clifford will throw for under 250 yards and will not be sacked more than once.

Sean Clifford will not be asked to carry the team like the last two seasons. Penn State finally finds some balance.

Sean Clifford has been sacked 52 times over his last 21 games. His health is paramount to Penn State’s success.

This game will be a classic, in a good way, James Franklin game. We finally get a balanced offense again and Sean Clifford can let his players make plays.
