Penn State Football: key players vs Purdue
By Nick Kreiser
Key player on defense – Joey Porter Jr. (CB)
Not only will Joey Porter Jr. be the Nittany Lions’ best cornerback in 2022, but he’ll also be one of the best in the Big Ten. When you have one of the best cornerbacks, they need to step up and play like it when going against good passing attacks.
Porter will need to lock down Charlie Jones, Broc Thompson, and rest of the Purdue wideouts if Penn State hopes to avoid getting lit up through the air.
Along with that, the potential first round corner will need to be sure not to gift the Boilermakers any free yards with pass interference calls, which is something we all know he struggled with down the stretch last season.
In a game that is projected to be close, silly mistakes such as penalties can be the difference between 1-0 and 0-1.
Joey Porter Jr., and really the entire secondary, will have to play well for Penn State Football on Thursday night. If they do, Purdue might struggle to move the ball.
