We are finally closing in on the start of the season.

As Penn State enters the 2022 campaign, I’ve never been so uncertain about a team.

Are the Nittany Lions closer to being a contender, or are they simply average? Is Penn State the team that dominated and was ranked as high as No. 4 in the country before Sean Clifford got injured? Can they compete in the Big Ten East, or are they the fourth-best team in their division?

Penn State Football enters the season with more questions than answers, but one thing is for sure, this program has the talent to make a New Year’s Six bowl.

I would love to give you this prediction after Penn State travels to Auburn, but that’s not how this works. They have two difficult road games in the first three weeks.

Purdue is planning to Black Out the opener and Auburn is planning an Orange Out for the week three matchup.

The schedule doesn’t let up all season. A road game at Michigan, the White Out against a strong Minnesota squad, of course Ohio State, and finishing the season against Michigan State. As many as six teams could be ranked when Penn State pops up on the schedule.

I feel one day I could talk myself into predicting Penn State Football going 11-1, and the next I wouldn’t be surprised if they finish the season 7-5. So enough with the theatrics, here is my prediction for the 2022 Penn State Nittany Lions.

Record: 8-4 (losses to Purdue or Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State, and a puzzling loss to Maryland)

Bowl Game: Music City Bowl vs Ole Miss
