Postseason Odds

Big Ten Champions +1600

According to BetMGM, Penn State football has the fourth best odds to win the Big Ten in 2022. The Nittany Lions trail only Ohio State (-225), Michigan (+600) and Wisconsin (+1200) in odds.

Considering the Nittany Lions’ win total is set at 8.5, them having the fourth best odds to win the conference is interesting.

Keep in mind, Penn State plays Ohio State and Michigan State at home, so that’s an advantage for the Nittany Lions. A loss at Michigan would not ruin Penn State’s chances of reaching the title game if the Wolverines lost to Ohio State and then Michigan State or one other Big Ten school.

Also notable is the fact that a loss to Auburn would not hurt Penn State’s conference title hopes in anyway. Remember in 2016, Penn State lost an out of conference game and lost to Michigan, but still won the conference.

National Champions +9100

For the national championship odds, Vegas Insider collected odds from numerous sports books and came to a consensus number. For Penn State, that number was +9100.

Those odds are the 16th best in country. So, for Penn State football to be unranked in the AP Poll but have the 16th best championship odds, says Vegas may like the Nittany Lions more than the AP. Although there is not a direct correlation between the odds and the AP rankings.

Not many will be betting on the Nittany Lions to win it all, but if you’re a believer in this team, the payout will make Penn State football winning the national championship even sweeter.
