Penn State Football: Predicting the outcome of each game this season
Week 8: Vs Ohio State
Penn State will finish off this grueling three-week stretch with a matchup with Ohio State.
The Buckeyes lose Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson at wide receiver, but return Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who had the best season of the three last year.
Heisman finalist C.J. Stroud is also back at quarterback. He completed 72% of his passes for 4.435 yards and 44 touchdowns last year. He only threw six picks. Explosive running back TreVeyon Henderson also returns after a breakout freshman year.
This offense is going to put up a ton of points in 2022.
The defense was good at times in 2021, but against Michigan and then against Utah in the Rose Bowl, they gave up a combined 87 points. Not a great end to the season.
This unit is young but has as much talent as anyone. Sophomores Jack Sawyer and J.T. Tuimoloau are looking for big seasons on the defensive line. Safety Ronnie Hickman, who was the team’s leading tackler last year, also returns.
Penn State always plays Ohio State tough, especially at Beaver Stadium. This just looks like an Ohio State team poised to do great things.
Prediction: PSU 24 Ohio State 30
