Penn State Football: Predicting the outcome of each game this season

Week 1: At Purdue

Penn State will head to Purdue to start the 2022 season.

The game will be played on Thursday Sept. 1 and will be a night game.

Purdue is known for their ability to upset teams in the past, so the Nittany Lions cannot take them lightly.

Purdue is led by 6-year quarterback Aidan O’Connell, who will be without his top two passing targets from last season. Additionally, the team’s best defender from last year, George Karlaftis, is also off to the NFL.

Like Penn State, Purdue also struggled to run the ball in 2021. The Boilermakers will also have to worry about going up against Penn State’s stout defensive line, which might be the best in the conference.

Regardless of the losses, Jeff Brohm always has his team ready to play. Penn State is by far the more talented team, but that has rarely mattered to Brohm and his Boilermakers before.

The Nittany Lions will need to establish a run game in order to keep O’Connell off the field. If they do that, this game will be a whole lot less scary.

Prediction: PSU 31 Purdue 24
