Bold prediction #2 – Penn State Football has at least six 100-yard rushers

Last season, Penn State failed to have a single back reach the 100-yard threshold in any game, with Keyvone Lee being the closest when he rushed for 88 yards against Michigan. In fact, the last time a Nittany Lion running back reached that mark was Lee himself, way back in November of 2020 when he rushed for 134 yards at Michigan.

The running game can only improve this season, right?

Well it’s not a given, but it seems likely.

Along with having their best lineman from a year ago (Juice Scruggs) moving to his natural position of center to anchor the front, and a pair of young and promising players at left guard and left tackle–Landon Tengwall and Olu Fashanu respectively–the offensive line should take a step in the right direction

Combine that with a much-improved running back room, and we should see a lot more yards on the ground than we did a year ago.

Keyvone Lee and Nick Singleton are the most likely candidates to rush for 100+ yards throughout the season, but don’t count out Kaytron Allen or Devyn Ford; the latter of which has accomplished it before.

This prediction is pretty straight forward.

Penn State will have a running back eclipse the century mark at least six different times this year. That could be one apiece for six separate games, or perhaps maybe two in one game and four others throughout the year, but it will happen. The first instance very well could come in week one against Purdue, as they figure to have a weak rush defense and the Nittany Lions should have a lead in the second half where they can lean on the ground game.

In many cases, this prediction would not be very bold whatsoever, but given last year’s issues, it is.
