Michigan Wolverines (No. 8)

Last year’s Big Ten conference champions come in at No. 8 in the AP Poll.

The Michigan Wolverines had their best season under Jim Harbaugh in 2021 and the College Football Playoff participant is back for more in 2022.

While there’s still some uncertainty about who the quarterback will be, the offense around either Cade McNamara or J.J. McCarthy is pretty solid.

Michigan’s success in 2021 was built around its offensive line and running backs. Well, four members of the offensive line and two of the top three running backs from last season are back from last season.

The big question for Michigan is how it will replace the 25 sacks Aidan Hutchison and David Ojabo were responsible for last year. The team’s top safety Daxton Hill is also off to the NFL.

The offense for the Wolverines will be good, but their defense may take a step back.

Penn State heads to Michigan on Oct. 15 to start a tough three-week stretch following the bye week.
