Penn State legend Bo Nickal is locked and loaded heading into his DWCS Main Event match on August 9th

All-everything Nittany Lion great Bo Nickal is taking the next step in his quest for carving out a post-wrestling career in the world of MMA. Based on what the Penn State faithful saw from Nickal in his four years at University Park, I doubt there isn’t anything he wouldn’t be good at if he set his mind to it.

Speaking of “good”, according to the experts, Nickal has been good to quite good so far in his young MMA career. Bo slapped together a perfect 2-0 record while competing as an amateur and he won via a TKO in his professional debut against John Noland in Jorge Masvidal’s iKON FC 3 back on June 3rd.

So what’s up next for the UFC “super prospect”?

Oh, not much really. It’s just your run-of-the-mill main event card match for Dana White’s Contender Series 49. So basically a standard Tuesday evening for Bo Nickal.

However this time, a much more seasoned athlete stands in the way of Nickal and his quest of having his hand raised at the end of every match he competes in.

Zachary Borrego will put his 4-0 professional record on the line in what was supposed to be a middleweight bout between the two fighters. Unfortunately for Borrego, he weighed in 1.5 pounds heavier (187.5) and the match has been switched to catchweight.

The DWCS 49 action kicks off this evening at 8 p.m. EST and will be streamed on ESPN+. If Nickal can once again impress*, it’s possible a UFC contract could be in the works for the uber-talented fighter.

Get your popcorn ready!
