Penn State Basketball made the final five schools for a top-target recruit.

Amani Hansberry, from Washington DC (Mount St. Joseph High School) is the 140th ranked player in the nation according to 247 Sports and the 28th ranked power forward.  Hansberry is 6’8″ and 225 pounds and visited Happy Valley back on March 24th.

Hansberry also visited Miami, Virginia Tech and Illinois, who join Penn State in the final five.  Oddly, he has not visited Auburn, the fifth school to make the final cut.

Hansberry plays for Team Durant and excelled earlier this summer at the Peach Jam, known as recruiting hot bed.  Amani would fill a key position of need for Micah Shrewsberry and lift up the 2022-2023 recruiting class.

With good news comes the bad, as former Penn State target Devin Royal announced he would be attending Ohio State University.  Sigh…Penn State made the initial final cut of 9 teams but fell short of making the final three.  A shame to see him go just one state over…

Another B1G school had some unfortunate news today that could have an effect the Nittany Lions.  The 48th best player in the nation Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn decommitted from Purdue earlier today.  Could this mean Purdue’s former assistant coach (and now Nittany Lion head coach) have a shot at what would be the highest ranked recruit to ever commit to the program?  Penn State hasn’t expressed any interest in the combo guard yet but let’s see if Shrewsberry has a trick up his sleeve!
