Wait and See

This isn’t an exciting option, and quite frankly it’s not ideal either, but it may what ends up being the case.

Offensive line coach Phil Trautwein can sit back and evaluate tape from this upcoming season and see if any new targets emerge as a result of a breakout senior season.

There’s also the possibility that there’s coaching changes at other schools and guys who have rock-solid commitments right now start to look around.

It would be nice to have commits locked in early and not worry about it, but that just doesn’t seem likely to happen right now.

Jim Harbaugh did flirt with NFL jobs last offseason. If he does again this year, and actually lands a job, maybe Link becomes available. Mel Tucker looks locked in at Michigan State, so it doesn’t look like Ramil will be going anywhere.

The best course of action for James Franklin and his staff is to try and fill the other needs in the 2023 class and then just see what develops at offensive tackle as the season goes on.
