Penn State Football: 5 things to look for in August
5. The talented freshmen
Penn State brought in a ton of talent in its 2022 class, and some of that talent is ready to see the field this season.
The two true freshmen who look poised to make an impact this season are former 5-star recruits defensive end Dani Dennis-Sutton and running back Nick Singleton.
Penn State has the replace a lot of production at defensive end with Arnold Ebiketie off to the NFL.
Adisa Isaac is back from injury and Chop Robinson transferred in from Maryland, so there is some talent in this group. Many expect the 6-foot-5, 254-pound Dennis-Sutton to play a role in this rotation.
As for Singleton, it’s no secret that Penn State struggled to run the ball last year. Some of that was on the offensive line, some of it was on play calling and some of it was on the running backs themselves.
The hope is that the explosive Singleton can give this unit a much-needed jolt. Also keep an eye out for fellow true freshman running back Kaytron Allen, who brings more of a power running style.
Of course, everyone is going to want to know how former 5-star Drew Allar does at quarterback. While Allar is likely QB3 to star the year, his development is important.
Look out for positive reports on these youngsters and the rest of the 2022 class.
