4. Finding wide receivers for the 2023 class

Despite the success of Jahan Dotson in 2021 and the emergence of Parker Washington, wide receiver recruiting has been a struggle in 2023.

The Nittany Lions currently have just one wide receiver committed in the class in 4-star Ejani Shakir. While Shakir is talented, taking just one wide receiver in a recruiting class is not ideal.

Penn State recently lost a wide receiver commit with Yazeed Haynes flipping to Georgia. They also lost out on two top targets in Rodney Gallagher and Cam Seldon.

The staff is waiting to hear from Carmelo Taylor, as the 4-star continues to push back his commitment. No other notable names have really emerged yet.

This is a situation that will likely drag into the season as new targets will emerge with a solid high school senior season.

Penn State needs to put as many talented weapons around its promising quarterback room as possible, so look for this to be a main priority for the staff as the cycle continues.
