Penn State football is having a great run in the 2023 recruiting cycle, and assistant coach Ja’Juan Seider is a big reason why.

Penn State football assistant coach Ja’Juan Seider is ranked as one of the best recruiters in college football.

The ranking comes from 247 Sports, who uses a points system to determine who the best recruiters in the nation are. If a coach is a primary or secondary recruiter for a commit, the coach will receive points bases off of the commit’s ranking.

Seider is ranked No. 2 in the nation for the 2023 recruiting cycle. Serving as Penn State’s running backs coach, Seider is the lead recruiter in regions such as Florida and Virginia, two recruiting hotbeds for the Nittany Lions.

So far in the 2023 cycle, Seider has been the primary recruiter for the following commits:

  • 5-star OL Alex Birchmeier (VA)
  • 4-star LB Tony Rojas (VA)
  • 4-star S King Mack (FL)
  • 4-star S Conrad Hussey (FL)
  • 4-star ATH Mathias Barnwell (VA)
  • 3-star RB London Montgomery (PA)
  • 3-star OL Anthony Donkoh (VA)

Seider trails only Ohio State wide receiver coach Brian Hartline, who has one 5-star and three 4-star wide receivers in his 2023 haul.

Seider’s commits have an average ranking of 92.02, which is equivalent to a 4-star with the ranking of No. 213 in the nationally player rankings. He may not be done either, as Penn State is still actively looking at recruits in Virginia and Florida.

James Franklin has made it a priority to keep Seider on his staff. Schools like West Virginia (his alma mater) and Florida (his last job) have tried to full Seider away from Hapy Valley, but the Nittany Lions held them off. He is Penn State’s ace recruiter and has been a big reason why the program has been so successful on the recruiting trail the past two years.

Some of Seider’s past recruiting victories include 5-star RB Nick Singleton, 4-star RB Kaytron Allen, 4-star RB Noah Cain, 4-star DT Zane Durant, 4-star RB Keyvone Lee, 4-star RB Caziah Holmes, 4-star RB Devyn Ford, 4-star TE Brenton Strange and 4-star WR John Dunmore.

As long as Seider is at Penn State, expect the Nittany Lions to recruit well and produce some great running backs.
