Penn State Basketball is having a busy week, with three informative notes about the team surfacing this week.

1. John Harrar’s Pro Career

John Harrar’s ‘Men of Mackey’ play in the TBT Round 2 tonight, we learn a bit more about the Penn State 2022-2023 basketball schedule, and we learn another PSU Basketball opponent this upcoming year.

The fourth-seeded Men of Mackey are in round two of The Basketball Tournament (TBT), where non-NBA players compete for a $1 million prize.  Joining a mostly Purdue Boilermaker team, recent Penn State graduate John Harrar is the only center on their roster.  He played 10 minutes in their opening round win over No. 5 Mid American Unity, scoring three points and grabbing five rebounds.  The Men of Mackey take on No. 1 The Money Team tonight at 7:00 pm on ESPN 2.  The Money Team features former BYU star, Jimmer Fredette.

But Harrar was not the only Nittany Lion in this year’s TBT.  Jamari Wheeler, playing for No. 8 Athletics Miami, almost pulled off a crazy upset of No. 1 The Money Team but fell 71-67.  Wheeler played 18 minutes and had a very Wheeler-like line, scoring eight points, grabbing four rebounds, and dishing three assists.

Two other Chambers-era Nittany Lions played for the seventh-seeded Peacock Nation; a team comprised mostly of St. Peter’s alumni.  Donovan Jack played 17 minutes and scored two points and added six rebounds.  Brandon Taylor scored five points with six rebounds in 26 minutes, but Peacock Nation fell 69-68 to No. 2 Americana for Autism.
