Will the Offensive Line stop being a liability?

Penn State was dreadful on the offensive line for the last two seasons. Who would have thought Matt Limegrover was the key to Penn States’ offensive success.

Coach Limegrover was the Offensive Line Coach from 2016-2019. Despite three eleven-win seasons and Penn State rushing for over 200 yards a game, his contract was not renewed after the 2019 season.

Instead of staying with what was working, James Franklin pursued the flashy, young, hottest offensive line coach on the market. Enter Phil Trautwein.

While Phil Trautwein coached some of the strongest offensive lines at Boston College, that success has yet to transfer to Penn State. Trautwein inherited an offensive line that has dropped off each year he has been in Happy Valley.

It’s time for the offensive line to meet its potential. If Penn State can match the production that Trautwein oversaw at Boston College, we could be talking about a Big Ten title.
