Pro Football Focus recently released their top 25 wide receivers in college football, and both Parker Washington and Mitchell Tinsley were on the list.

According to the list, Penn State Football will have one of the top wide receiver duos in the country, as they are one of just five teams to have two receivers ranked in the top 25. The others are USC, Virginia, Texas, and Maryland.

Obviously these rankings aren’t perfect (no ranking ever is), but it seems like a good list that gives a good indication of just how dominant the duo of Parker Washington and Mitchell Tinsley can be.

Even though they played for two different teams in two very different conferences, Washington and Tinsley combined for 151 receptions, 2,222 yards, and 18 touchdowns in 2021. What makes that even more impressive is that neither of the two were the No. 1 pass catching option for either of their respective teams.

The two should complement each other nicely, as Parker Washington is a smaller receiver at five-foot-ten that will line up in the slot and be a chore to try to bring down after the catch, whereas Mitchell Tinsley is a taller and longer target at six-foot-one that can be a downfield threat out on the edge.

Last season, Washington’s 64 receptions rank sixth all-time for a single season in Penn State Football history. To put that in perspective, that’s more than OJ McDuffie or Bobby Engram ever caught in a single season, and also more than Chris Godwin had in 2016.

Tinsley on the other hand was voted a second team all-conference selection for Conference-USA, where he was the No. 2 option on a high-powered offense led by record breaking quarterback: Bailey Zappe.

With some stability in terms of the offensive system, Sean Clifford should look more like his 2019 self, which will only increase the effectiveness of Washington and Tinsley. Hopefully the offensive line can improve as well to help complete the offense.

Finally, Mike Yurcich needs to prioritize getting the ball into the hands of No. 3 and No. 5, because the two of them could very well be one of the premier pass-catching duos in all of college football.

More. Sean Clifford added to a pair of preseason watch lists. light
