Penn State Football: What still needs to be done in the 2023 recruiting class
Don’t give up on skill players
Penn State football lost their two highest rated wide receiver targets earlier this year in Rodney Gallagher and Cam Seldon.
Gallagher committed to West Virginia back in May, while Seldon committed to Tennessee earlier this month.
The Nittany Lions have two wide receivers committed in Ejani Shakir and Yazeed Haynes, but it seems like you can never have enough offensive weapons in today’s college football.
There aren’t a lot of interesting uncommitted options out there, so if the staff decides they want another receiver, they will probably continue to push for these two.
Unlike the other positions on this list, this isn’t a need as much as it is a luxury. If space in the class gets even tighter than it is now, this would be the least prioritized hole in the class. Most fans would probably prefer that Penn State takes both Link and Ramil over one of these two if given the option.
The solid receiver haul in 2022, combined with the abundance of pass-catching talent in the transfer portal every year, makes the losses of Gallagher and Seldon easier to swallow, but there’s nothing wrong with the staff getting greedy and trying to flip one of them before signing day.
