1. The early stages

Nick Singleton received his Penn State offer on July 3, 2019, almost exactly two years later he would commit to them.

The Nittany Lions were his first major offer, but soon after Penn State extended a scholarship, so did multiple other schools in the region.

That winter, Singleton’s recruitment started to blow up as he received national offers from schools like Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan. Eventually, the likes of USC, Michigan State and Tennessee would throw their hats in the ring for Singleton.

Penn State had a major advantage though, as Singleton was on campus multiple times during the 2019 season for games. Penn State started the 2019 season 8-0, so these visits were beneficial to the Nittany Lions.

Things seemed to be going well with Singleton and Penn State as the year changed to 2020, but it was far too early for a decision and the offers continued to pour in.

And then, his recruitment, along with everyone else’s, was paused due to the pandemic.
