3. Expanding the Board

Penn State Football is no longer a regional recruiter.

Of the five commits Penn State landed in June, only one was from Pennsylvania. Two were from Alabama, one was from Florida, and one was from New York.

Penn State now has 16 commits in the 2023 class with five being from Pennsylvania, three from Virginia, three from Florida, two from Alabama, one from Massachusetts, one from New Jersey and one from New York.

The Nittany Lions may not be done in Florida with Treyaun Webb still out there. The same goes for Virginia with Tony Rojas slated to commit on July 14. Targets in states like Maryland, Alabama and Pennsylvania also remain.

We know the Nittany Lions are going to recruit well in Florida thanks to Ja’Juan Seider’s connections, but Alabama has been a welcomed addition to the recruiting footprint.

With more elite prospects in the south than the north, it’s important for the Nittany Lions to recruit well down there if they want to compete on a national level on the field. So far, so good.
