We may now have some clarity on why Jevonnie Scott is no longer a member of the Penn State Basketball program.

Former Nittany Lion Basketball player Jevonnie Scott has been charged with a second-degree misdemeanor count of simple assault and one simple summary offense of disorderly conduct.

Scott, who left the Nittany Lions program a few weeks ago, averaged 1.4 points and 1.6 rebounds for the Nittany Lions, despite playing a position of need.  Scott was originally from Canada and played junior college basketball in Texas and was a part of Head Coach Micah Shrewsberry’s first foray into the transfer portal and one with the hopes of potential for growth.

He missed time due to transfer eligibility issues to begin the year, and then even after Shrewsberry stated he was eligible, continued to miss more time, despite no reason ever given.  He finally made his debut on Jan. 11.  He never played more than 12 minutes in a game, averaging just 6.3 in eleven appearances.  His career-high in points (4) came against Ohio State and rebounds (3) versus both Northwestern and Minnesota.

According to reports, the criminal complaint was about a fight at 2:30 a.m. on March 20 in downtown State College. Allegedly, Scott struck a citizen in the head, knocking him unconscious, forcing treatment at the hospital.  He was charged via summons in May and the case remains outstanding.
