2. WR Carmelo Taylor

Carmelo Taylor isn’t a well-known prospect, but he may be one of the more underrated recruits on Penn State Football’s radar.

From Roanoke, VA, Taylor is listed at 6-foot and 170 pounds. He currently does not have a 247 Sports Composite rating, but 247 Sports ranks him as a high 3-star and the No. 6 player in Virginia.

What makes Taylor an intriguing prospect is his speed. Taylor is one of the fastest track athletes in the state of Virginia. That speed, along with solid size for a wide receiver at 6-foot, is why Penn State is showing interest.

He probably needs some time in the weight room, but the speed definitely translates to the next level. This is familiar to this time last year, when the Nittany Lions identified speedster Tyler Johnson as a legit prospect. He, like Taylor, was also from Virginia.

Taylor’s current offers include Penn State, South Carolina, Maryland and Virginia Tech. He took an official visit to South Carolina last weekend.

The Nittany Lions already have two wide receivers committed, but Taylor is still a recruit to keep an eye on.
