How Penn State Football can use recruiting to keep up with Ohio State
Quarterback
Well, you know Ohio State is going to score, so you better be prepared to do the same.
Year in and year out, the Buckeyes recruit top talent at the quarterback position. Having someone reliable to throw to those big-time wide receivers is vital to having a successful offense.
Over the years, the Nittany Lions have had quality quarterback play, but nothing comparable to that of the Buckeyes. Ohio State has had Heisman contenders and first round draft picks at the quarterback position over the last handful of years. This has been what has really separated them from the rest of the Big Ten.
Well, Penn State may have finally been able to catch up in terms of quarterback talent.
In the 2022 cycle, the Nittany Lions landed 5-star quarterback Drew Allar. Allar was rated as the No. 1 quarterback in the country by 247 Sports. They didn’t stop there though; they also landed 4-star Beau Pribula and have another 4-star committed in 2023 in Marcus Stokes.
Under offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich, quarterback recruiting has gone to the next level for Penn State. It may not be as consistent as Ohio State’s, but it’s at least starting to get there.
