1. Official Visit Magic

Oh, to be a fly on the wall during an official visit weekend in Happy Valley.

James Franklin and his staff have taken advantage of the June official visit period the last two recruiting cycles.

Last year, Penn State turned the June visits into 13 2022 July commitments. That stretch helped the Nittany Lions finish the cycle with a top ten recruiting class.

This year, the recruits aren’t even waiting until July to commit as Tomarrion Parker is already the third commit for Penn State as a result of an official visit. He joins Yazeed Haynes and Tyriq Blanding in that department.

Whatever Penn State is doing on these visits is working, and in a big way.

We need to understand that Parker is a big-time prospect from Alabama who had visits slated to schools like Tennessee and Florida, and yet after one visit to Penn State, he shuts down his recruitment. Stuff like this doesn’t really happen all that often, especially for Penn State.

To convince a recruit that held offers from practically the entire SEC and a few fellow Big Ten teams to shut down his recruitment after one weekend in town is so impressive.

Penn State fans should feel good when they hear that a big-name recruit is taking an official visit to Happy Valley.
