Could a comeback season be in store for some former Penn State Football standout receivers that are recovering from ACL injuries? It seems very likely.

Beginning with KJ Hamler of the Denver Broncos, who tore his ACL in week three last season against the New York Jets.

Broncos GM, George Paton, has stated that Hamler is “doing really well”, according to Aric DiLalla (lead writer for the Denver Broncos).

During a recent press conference, Hamler himself even said that he is “ahead of schedule”, which is great news for the former fan-favorite in Happy Valley.

On top of that, he will benefit from having a massive upgrade at quarterback this offseason, as the Broncos made a trade for future Hall of Famer: Russell Wilson.

Wilson seems to have high expectations for the Broncos’ third-year wide receiver.

While Hamler will not be one of the primary targets, he will still get plenty of opportunities with Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton commanding so much attention. With an All-Pro caliber quarterback, the Broncos are now playoff contenders with a great offense, and KJ Hamler could find himself right in the middle of it.

For Hamler, he is looking for more of a breakout season as compared to a comeback season, but regardless, don’t be surprised to see No. 1 making big-time plays for the Broncos this year.

Another former Penn State Football wideout that is looking for a comeback season is Chris Godwin, who is also recovering from an ACL tear that he suffered in week 15 against the Saints. Since his injury occurred much later in the season, it is unlikely that he will be ready to go right away, but he’ll definitely be back out there in 2022.

In what will be his sixth season in the NFL, Godwin’s Buccaneers will once again be right in the thick of the NFC race, and he’ll be a staple of their offense – catching passes from one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game.

Prior to his injury last season, the former All-Big Ten wideout was among the league leaders in multiple receiving categories, and was averaging a career high seven receptions per game.

Once he’s healthy, Chris Godwin will be a key part of a Tampa Bay squad looking to win their second Super Bowl in three seasons.

With Hamler and Godwin returning from injury, as well as Allen Robinson now with the defending Super Bowl champion Rams, Jahan Dotson ready to take the NFC East by storm, and Parker Washington and Mitchell Tinsley in the on-deck circle, Penn State Football could quietly be making a case to be the next WRU.
