Jevonnie Scott, we hardly knew ye as a spokesperson for the program confirmed he will not return to the program.

As we alluded to yesterday with the signing of Michael Henn, Penn State was ‘over’ by one scholarship and would likely seem the end of the Jevonnie Scott era with the Nittany Lions.  A day later, the program confirmed just that as Jevonnie Scott will not return to the program next year.

The Canada native and Junior College transfer really struggled with the transition to big-time college basketball.  He only played in 11 games due to a variety of eligibility issues, COVID-19 issues, and injury issues.  He finished his only season in the blue and white with 1.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game, averaging just 6.3 minutes per game.

His lack of development hurt the team immensely last year as their lack of depth behind John Harrar was a huge issue night in and night out.  The opportunity was there for Scott to make an impact, but foul trouble was a consistent issue (averaged 9.52 fouls per 40 minutes).  He was also the only frontcourt man from Shrew’s first transfer portal class that had more than just one year of eligibility so his lack of development and now departure really highlights an area where the Nittany Lions must improve moving forward.
