Ranking the biggest games on the 2022 Penn State Football schedule
By Nick Kreiser
1. Penn State Football vs Minnesota (10/22)
If you want my primary reason for Minnesota being at the top of this list, look at the image above.
No, I’m not saying we should storm the field with a win over the Golden Gophers, but what I am saying is that, because of that heartbreaking loss that ended Penn State’s undefeated season in 2019, this will be a big time game.
Not only that, but with the announcement that this game will kick off at 7:30, the likelihood of this matchup being this year’s White Out, increases.
Similar to Purdue, Minnesota is a very good football team that will contend in the West. They’re a well-coached team that went 9-4 last year, and return a lot of talented players, including quarterback Tanner Morgan.
They will also get star running back Mohamed Ibrahim back, who missed virtually all of last season with an injury.
This is also yet another team that is good, but still not as talented as Penn State, making this another “game you’re supposed to win”. Losing those types of games obviously doesn’t look good, especially if it’s the White Out.
Finally, this will be the return of former Penn State offensive coordinator, Kirk Ciarrocca. Current OC, Mike Yurcich, will have an opportunity to go head-to-head with his predecessor, perhaps proving whether or not James Franklin made the right move by firing Ciarrocca after just one season to bring in Yurcich.
