We Are now inside of 100 days until the 2022 Penn State Football season kicks off, and as always, the Nittany Lions have plenty of big-time games ahead of them, especially on the front half of their schedule.

Originally, this was going to be ranking the top five games for the upcoming season, but that just didn’t seem right, as there are six games that are top-five material, and after that, there’s a relatively big drop off.

Certainly, all of these games are massive, and there are seemingly a thousand different orders that you could put this list in that would make sense, but we’ll do our best to split hairs and provide a unique list that goes against the grain, as well as provide some reasons as to why each one is ranked where it is.

These are the six biggest games – in ascending order – for Penn State Football in 2022.

6. Penn State Football at Michigan (10/15)

I’ll be honest, having the defending Big Ten champions this low on the list is a surprise, even to myself … and I’m the one compiling this list.

However, looking at some of the other games on this list, I felt this was the best spot for it.

With fans in attendance, Penn State Football has struggled mightily in The Big House, and that’s not just under the current regime. Since the Nittany Lions and the Wolverines first met back in 1993, Penn State is just 4-8 at Michigan, with the only wins coming in 2020 without fans, as well as in 2009, 1996, and 1994.

Turning around their fortunes in Ann Arbor would be big for the program, but in terms of the 2022 season, this game isn’t quite as important as the others on this list (though it is still a massive game for Penn State Football). If anything, it just speaks to how many big games are on the 2022 schedule.
