Despite losing arguably the nation’s best running back last season in Kenneth Walker, there’s still some talent on the Spartans offense.

There’s certainly questions at running back. Jalen Berger transfers over from Wisconsin, but there’s some concerns there with how his Wisconsin career ended. Jarek Broussard transferred in from Colorado as well. Broussard carried the ball 142 times for 661 yards and two touchdowns last season.

Jayden Reed and Tre Mosley are a solid wide receiver duo. Reed caught 59 passes for 1,026 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. Mosley had 35 grabs for 530 yards and three touchdowns. There’s not a lot behind them though, with Keon Coleman being the only other guy to see a lot of action last year, and he had just seven catches.

The tight end group will lean on Illinois transfer Daniel Barker and Maliq Carr. Barker had 18 catches for 202 yards and four touchdowns in 2021, while Carr had eight grabs for 135 yards.

This group could be just as good as last year’s, but the losses of Walker, Jalen Nailor and Connor Heyward will sting early.
