Penn State Football: Here’s Why They’re Not Linked to Jordan Addison
NIL
Most of this is just rumors at this point, but NIL deals are supposedly a big player in Addison’s recruitment right now.
When he first entered the portal during the last weekend of April, rumors began to circulate on the internet that USC had offered Addison a multi-million-dollar NIL deal to join the Trojans. Later rumors even added that a house was included in the deal.
While that story may turn out to be false, you cannot discredit the impact NIL has on this recruitment, if you want to call it a recruitment.
Addison is one of, if not the best, wide receivers in the country. Programs are going to show him how they plan to market him and how he can make money off of it.
Obviously with USC being in Los Angeles, the NIL opportunities are limitless. Texas, Georgia and Alabama also have massive donor pools, allowing them the ability to have massive NIL funds. Addison has a chance to make a lot of money before even being drafted in the NFL thanks to the NIL era of college sports.
Penn State is doing what they can in the NIL department, setting up the Success with Honor NIL fund (Check them out if you haven’t yet), but it’s still in its early stages and currently does not have the resources that these other programs mentioned have.
Hopefully Penn State will get there soon, because if they do, they could be in the mix for the next super star player that enters the portal.
