For the second straight season, Penn State Football used the transfer portal to its advantage, adding three key players.

These additions will certainly make Penn State Football better, but how much better are we talking?

The Nittany Lions had holes to fill on the offensive line, defensive line and linebacker, and they were able to successfully address two of those needs. While wide receiver wasn’t a dire need for the team, the staff was still able to land an impact player at that position in the portal as well.

The deadline to enter the transfer portal without having to sit out this upcoming season passed on May 1, so the names currently in the portal are the final pool to pick from. With no promising targets at linebacker currently listed in the transfer portal, it looks like the Nittany Lions are done adding.

One reason they’re done adding is that they’re also done subtracting. Not that many scholarship Penn State players entered the portal, so space was tight.

With the final number of additions looking more and more likely that it will be three, it’s time to hand out grades.
