Saquon Barkley is now officially a graduate of Penn State
By Nick Kreiser
When former standout running back for Penn State Football, Saquon Barkley, decided to forgo his senior season with the Nittany Lions to pursue his dream of playing in the NFL, he made a promise to his mother that he would finish his degree, and graduate from Penn State.
At that time, he also stated that he wanted to complete his degree to set a good example for his daughter, Jada.
Now, four years, a number two overall NFL Draft pick, and an NFL Rookie of the Year award later, Saquon delivered on that promise, receiving his degree in communications.
It would have been easy for Saquon to just forget about getting his degree, or at least push it off until his playing days were over, especially considering a trying past couple of years of battling injuries for the New York Giants’ running back, but he delivered, as he did so many times for the Nittany Lions.
Barkley rushed for 3,843 yards in his Penn State Football career, and also holds the school record for rushing touchdowns, with 43. Add to that another eight receiving touchdowns and two kick return touchdowns, and he is also the school’s all-time leader in total touchdowns.
Some other awards that Saquon Barkley accomplished throughout his three-year career with the Nittany Lions include – Big Ten Champion, All-American, Big Ten Freshman of the Year, and two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.
Now, he can add ‘Graduate of The Pennsylvania State University’ to his resumé.
