Here’s Where the Undrafted Penn State Nittany Lions Ended up
John Lovett to the Panthers
There is one more transfer to get to, and that’s running back John Lovett.
The Baylor transfer was picked up by his old head coach Matt Rhule and the Carolina Panthers on Sunday morning. In one season with Penn State, Lovett had just 177 rushing yards on 52 attempts.
It certainly was a disappointing season for Lovett, and the Penn State running back group as a whole, in 2021. The Nittany Lions struggled to figure out a running back rotation and Lovett seemingly got lost in the shuffle at times.

Lovett did excel in his time with Rhule, so hopefully he can back to his early Baylor days with the Panthers. There are a lot of bodies in the Carolina running back room behind Christian McCaffrey. Former Oklahoma State standout Chuba Hubbard is currently listed as the backup, while D’Onta Foreman and Spencer Brown are also in the mix.
As Penn State fans know from the 2020 season, running back groups can quickly get decimated by injury, so if Lovett can have a strong summer, he could stick around in Carolina or find another home rather easily.
