Derrick Tangelo to the Falcons

Derrick Tangelo spent just one season with Penn State, but he certainly made the most of the opportunity, as he signed with the Atlanta Falcons.

The Duke transfer had 29 total tackles with 5.5 being for loss and two sacks for the Nittany Lions in 2021. He became a vital member of the defensive line when team captain P.J. Mustipher (who would’ve been a Day Two selection this year) was lost for the year with an injury.

At 6-foot-2 and 307 pounds, Tangelo is a space eater, who could stick around in the NFL as an early down run stopper. His 6.5 career sacks do show that he can get after the quarterback as well, making him more valuable to a team.

Tangelo will be reunited with Arnold Ebiketie, who was the Falcons second-round pick. Both Tangelo and Ebiketie transferred to Penn State before the 2021 season in hopes of making the NFL, now they’ll be on the same team in the pros.
