Penn State Football redshirt freshman QB – Christian Veilleux

As a redshirt freshman who has seen minimal in-game action to this point of his career, Christian Veilleux ironically has both experience and inexperience working in his favor.

Last year, Veilleux appeared in just two games and attempted just 26 passes in those two appearances.

While that is a very limited experience, it is still more than what his counterparts in Drew Allar and Beau Pribula have, so that works to his advantage.

He has also been around the program longer than the two true freshmen, so he is likely more familiar with the playbook and has better chemistry with the wide receivers and tight ends.

In terms of his inexperience, the redshirt freshman from Ottawa had his senior season of high school ball canceled in 2020, and prior to that, only played two seasons of American football.

Combine that with the fact that he spent much of last season as the third-string behind Ta’Quon Roberson, and you’re left with very few reps over the past two years for Christian Veilleux.

So, perhaps there is a lot more talent and ability beneath the surface for the redshirt freshman than we realize, and with more reps this offseason, he could blossom into a great collegiate quarterback, ready to take the reigns as Penn State Football’s primary signal-caller, after backing up Sean Clifford in 2022.
