Penn State Football running back – Kaytron Allen

Kaytron Allen is overshadowed at running back by Nicholas Singleton in the Nittany Lions’ 2022 recruiting class, but he shouldn’t be.

Allen is a very talented and well-rounded back in a 5-foot-11, 220-pound frame, so he is more than ready to be a contributor for the offense this season.

The product from IMG Academy will need to compete with and beat out returning running backs Devyn Ford and Caziah Holmes, which he has the potential to do.

Prediction:

While he won’t surpass returning number one back Keyvone Lee or the dynamic and explosive Nicholas Singleton, Kaytron Allen will earn the number three spot in the running back rotation, and similar to Drew Allar at quarterback, will make the most out of his limited opportunities.

As the number three back, Allen probably won’t regularly see a ton of carries, but he could very well see a handful of carries per game, spelling Lee and Singleton for a few of plays here and there throughout each game.

Just because Allen might be limited with his opportunities, does not mean he is limited with how productive he can be with those opportunities. Expect Kaytron Allen to make the most out of his touches, perhaps averaging five or more yards per carry, running with physicality and good vision, developing into a solid and reliable third option in the backfield as a true freshman.
