Penn State Basketball Today: Big Ten Tournament 2nd Round Penn State vs Ohio State odds, injury report, prediction, live stream and TV channel
By Evan Smith
Penn State Basketball has advanced to the second round of the Big Ten Tournament, taking on the six seed Ohio State Buckeyes Thursday evening.
Penn State Basketball faces a familiar opponent in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament as they take on the No. 6 seed Ohio State Buckeyes.
The Nittany Lions (13-16, 7-13), led by head coach Micah Shrewsberry, and returning starters Seth Lundy and friend of VBR John Harrar (download his app!), face off against the Ohio State Buckeyes today, Thursday, March 10th, at approximately 9:00 pm in Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on the Big Ten Network (BTN).
Shrewsberry’s team has already played the Buckeyes twice, a comeback bid falling short back in December and a five-point loss in Columbus in January.
Ohio State (19-10, 12-8) has battled injuries all year but managed to remain in the AP Top 25 Poll for most of the year and are just on the oustide looking in currently.
The Buckeyes are led by All-Big Ten performer E.J. Liddell’s 19.4 points and 7.9 rebounds. The most familiar face to Nittany Lions fans is their former point guard and now Buckeye starter Jamari Wheeler.
Wheeler is averaging 7.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game (and a plea to all Nittany Nation in Indianapolis, please don’t boo a man who graduated from the school we cheer for)!

Penn State Basketball vs Ohio State Prediction
ESPN’s BPI gives Penn State Basketball a 24.1% chance of winning. It’s never easy to win a game when you’ve played the night before versus a team with full rest.
However, Ohio State injuries are a significant concern, and given that this team cares far more about the tournament starting next Thursday that Penn State won’t be playing in, it is possible they may not go all out to win this game.
Penn State has played this Buckeye team tough twice but Ohio State clearly has more talent.
And Jamari Wheeler isn’t the type of player who likes losing to his former team. Most teams struggle to land the knockout blow against Penn State. I could see Penn State even leading at the half before tired legs become more of an issue (like they did for Minnesota last night).
Penn State Basketball will stay in the game until very late, with Ohio State never really pulling away but the Nittany Lions never truly threatening in the final minutes of the game.
