NFL Mock Draft: Penn State Football’s Jaquan Brisker to New York Giants?
By Evan Smith
Penn State Football’s Jaquan Brisker could be heading to the New York Giants, according to latest NFL Mock Draft.
Jaquan Brisker was a leader of Penn State Football’s defense, is widely regarded as one of the top safeties in the 2022 NFL Draft, and could be heading to the NFC East later this spring.
According to FanSided National NFL Insider Matt Lombardo, the New York Giants are in the market for secondary help and could be looking to take Nittany Lions standout.
Brisker finished with 63 tackles (38 solo) and two interceptions in the 2021 season and finished with five interceptions in his career.
In Lombardo’s latest 7-round New York Giants mock draft, Brisker lands in New York in the second-round:
"“Given the New York Giants’ need in the secondary, and Martindale’s propensity for moving his safeties around the board like a chess piece, it’s easy to see Brisker sliding into a starting role alongside former second-round pick Xavier McKinney.”"
Brisker has turned heads throughout his collegiate career with his impressive coverage in the secondary. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native was a highlight for the Nittany Lions defense this past year. He flirted with going to the National Football League after the 2020 season but came back to further his draft stock.
Jaquan continued to impress at last week’s NFL Combine, turning heads with an impressive 4.49 time in the 40-yard dash and the belief is that he will even shave off more time when he runs at Penn State’s Pro Day. He also finished with a 22 on the bench press, a 34.5 on the vertical jump, and 124 on the Broad Jump.
