Final Thoughts

Look, maybe we were being a little too critical in our Session II recap, but I highly doubt any of the Penn State faithful would agree this was the team’s best effort of the year.

And it was still almost good enough to take home the team title!

I also understand the Nittany Lions didn’t have to give it their all. Because the real individual test and the real team test comes in two weeks in Detroit.

But in the end, I feel the Nittany Lion grapplers had a really good 2022 Big Ten Championships. Roman Bravo-Young, Nick Lee, Carter Starocci, and Max Dean each picked up individual titles. With Nick Lee and Carter Starocci each picking up their first-ever Big Ten titles.

Beau Bartlett wrestled his tail off to finish 7th and win the automatic qualifier bid to the NCAA’s. And while Drew Hildebrandt struggled, he still did enough to also earn the auto-bid.

Both Brady Berge and Greg Kerkvliet earned their highest finishes in the Big Tens and added valuable team points when in mattered in the wrestle backs.

Cael Sanderson and the Nittany Lions have two weeks to prepare and get ready to be their best.

And if there’s one thing I know, it’s that I will never bet against a Cael Sanderson-led team.

Ever.
