Bold Prediction No. 5: Penn State will not win the Big Ten Championship (and it doesn’t matter)

I’ve crossed a line, haven’t I?

Please don’t hate me.

Do I deep down really believe a roster as stacked and talented as Penn State Wrestling’s won’t win the Big Ten Championship this year? No, I don’t.

They have proven all year they are the best team in the Big Ten and the nation.

But, these predictions need to be bold with a small side of crazy. And I feel pretty good about this prediction falling directly into that camp.

So, before you go get your torches and pitchforks and head in my direction, I want you to know something … Even someone with limited wrestling knowledge such as myself, I still know that winning Big Ten individual titles and Big Ten team titles are nice. However, the only thing Cael Sanderson and his coaching staff have their sights set on are winning NCAA individual titles and NCAA team titles.

The Big Ten Wrestling Championships are simply a tuneup for the big show. So, if my final bold prediction ends up being a reality, then it simply does not matter at all.

The real wrestling matches for this season start on March 17th in Detroit.
