Sitting down with YouTube’s TrueTan Wrestling to discuss the prior season, the upcoming Big Ten Wrestling Championships, and the possible impacts for the No. 1 ranked Penn State Wrestling

Well wrestling fans, I have a treat for you today, as someone who actually knows what they are talking about in the world of collegiate wrestling visits Victory Bell Rings for a quick Q&A leading up to the Big Ten Wrestling Championships and the outlook for No. 1 ranked Penn State Wrestling.

I know, a lot of you probably look forward to something other than my endless drivel that normally pours down the pages. Don’t say I never do anything for you!

Tanner from TrueTan Wrestling was nice enough to take time away from his busy job making top notch wrestling content to sit down with us and answer some questions we had about the Big Ten regular season and what lies ahead.

And seriously, if you’re a fan of Penn State Wrestling — or just a fan of wrestling itself — check out his content. There are a plethora of dual meet breakdowns, news videos, conference recaps, and some fun “What If’s”

Here’s a look at what Tanner from TrueTan Wrestling thinks about Penn State Wrestling’s chances in the Big Ten Championships

VBR – Before getting into my hard-hitting questions, tell us a little about yourself, Tanner.

TTW – Hi there. My name is Tanner McHugh and I run TrueTan Wrestling as an independent content creator on YouTube. This channel focuses on the sport of wrestling, primarily Division I college wrestling. I was a Division III college wrestler for five years, and I graduated from a small Cleveland School. My main passion is to detail wrestling news to fans and soon to fans of the sport!

VBR – Well thank you very much for joining us, it’s great to have your insight and perspective. Let’s dive into our first question. What are the biggest surprises you saw in the Big Ten regular season? Both good and bad.

TTW – It’s Nebraska’s 18-15 loss to Purdue at the start of the Big Ten season. This one is shocking considering how great of a dueling team Nebraska turned out to be.

Also Nebraska’s Mikey Labriola’s 5-4 win over Iowa’s Michael Kemerer in their dual meet on February 20th. Labriola is a several time All-American, so I would never count him out, but this for sure stunned the wrestling community.

I’m going to also include Brady Berge’s return to the Nittany Lions. I can’t believe he went from an assistant coach at South Dakota State to back in the Penn State lineup.

Lastly it’s Iowa’s Spencer Lee and Minnesota’s Brayton Lee being done for the year. Not much you can do with injuries, but both of these were sad blows.
