Lock Down the Keystone State

The key to building an elite program includes dominating your home state.

Until your program reaches elite status, you have to lock down your backyard.

Penn State Football struggled with this between the 2019-2021 recruiting classes. During these three recruiting cycles, Penn State only brought in twelve recruits from Pennsylvania. James Franklin missed out on the top recruit in the state in all three seasons.

Fast forward to the 2022 class, and the refocus on the Keystone state jumps off the page. James Franklin was able to land the top recruit in the state with running back Nicholas Singleton. Penn State finished the 2022 class with six of the top ten Pennsylvania recruits.

Looking ahead to the 2023 class, Penn State has already signed three Pennslyvania recruits. Two of which are ranked as five-star recruits depending on your ranking source. Penn State is in good shape with the majority of the remaining top ten ranked recruits in the state.

If Penn State Football can replicate and sign 6-8 of the top ten players in Pennslyvania, the class will once again be highly ranked.
