Michigan State’s Kalin Lucas scores against Penn State’s Tim Frazier during the Big Ten tournament March 12, 2011 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.Kalin Lucas /

#2 — December 7th, 2011 (BJC): Lafayette 61 PSU 57

Prior to this game, Penn State Basketball had never lost to a Patriot League opponent (their second would come two years later).

Enter Lafayette’s wacky 2-3 zone that completely flummoxed the Nittany Lions all game.

And, this was not a good Leopard team yet the Nittany Lions trailed nearly the entire game.  A Jermaine Marshall three pointer cut the Lafayette lead to 2.  From there, Jermaine Marshall missed the front end of a one-in-one, Tim Frazier missed a layup and then Jermaine Marshall turned the all over with 17 seconds left.

Lafayette head coach Fran O’Hanlan somehow got a technical foul up 3 with 10 seconds left by calling a timeout when he had none left.  Unfortunately, Tim Frazier only made one free throw and the Leopards made their free throws to win the game by four.

Look at these offensive’ statistics for the Nitany Lions:

33% shooting from the field

13% from three point range

Tim Frazier, yes 12 year NBA vet Tim Frazier, was 0-12 from the field, despite averaging 20 points.

Final KenPom rankings:  Lafayette 239 — Penn State 133
