Penn State Football recruiting: 2023 mock class 1.0
Quarterback (1)
The quarterback position may be the most difficult to predict in the 2023 class.
After signing 5-star Drew Allar and talented 3-star Beau Pribula in 2022, it will be a bit difficult for the Nittany Lions to convince a high-level quarterback recruit to come to Penn State.
To date, Penn State Football has offered ten quarterbacks in the 2023 class, but none are really sticking out as the favorite to end up in Penn State’s class. At this time last year, Pribula was already committed, and Allar was being heavily courted by offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich.
There was a time when Cam Edge looked to be the guy, but he was reclassified to 2022 and is signed with Maryland. There are two elite-level targets in Dante Moore and Jaden Rashada. Moore, from Detroit, has the attention of Michigan and Michigan State, along with the Nittany Lions. Notre Dame, hungry to avenge losing Allar to Penn State is also in the mix. As for Rashada, he’s from California, so that would be quite the pull.
There’s also Dylan Lonergan from Georgia the 4-star is the son of Todd Blackledge’s Penn State backup Dan Lonergan. In the end, though, it seems unlikely that any of these three will end up in Happy Valley.
The newest target on the board, Marcus Stokes, may be the man.
Stokes attended a junior day at Penn State back in January and left with an offer from the Nittany Lions. From Florida, Stokes other others include Florida Atlantic, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, USF and Western Carolina. Remember, it was around this time last year that Penn State became Allar’s first big-time offer and now they are the same for Stokes.
The Pick: Marcus Stokes
