John Harrar, ‘The Legend of Delco,’ was honored tonight as part of an unusual Senior Night for the Penn State Basketball Team.

Penn State Basketball chose to honor all seven players that have played ‘four plus’ years of basketball, which includes this year’s transfers Greg Lee, Jalanni White, and Jaheam Cornwall along with Myles Dread and Sam Sessoms.

John Harrar is the key to this team, forgoing an opportunity to pursue an NCAA Tournament berth with a different team and choosing to spend his fifth and final year of eligibility right where he started in Happy Valley.

On the year, Harrar is averaging 10.7 points and 9.8 rebounds a game, nearly a double-double.  He has scored 759 points in the blue and white and obtained a wildly impressive 770 rebounds.

If Harrar can get 46 more rebounds this year, which he would be right around pace to accomplish given the four remaining games plus the Big Ten Tournament game, he would finish fifth in Nittany Lion history rebounds (behind only Lamar Stevens, Mike Lang, Mike Watkins and Jesse Arnelle).

Harrar sat down with VBR earlier this year (download his app!) and spoke about the opportunity to continue playing profesionally or potentially even getting into coaching.  Who knows, he could be prowling the sidelines of the BJC again one day!
