Penn State Football got a commitment from offensive linemen Hunter Nourzad earlier this month but now have their eye on Western Kentucky linemen Cole Spencer, who entered the transfer portal on Monday.

Penn State Football entered the offseason in need of improvement to their offensive line who lost three starters from last year and despite adding Hunter Nourzad already via the transfer portal, it appears they may not be done just yet.

Rivals national columnist Mike Farrell is reporting that the Nittany Lions are leading the way early on in interest shown for tackle Cole Spencer from Western Kentucky who entered the portal on Monday.

The immediate interest from Penn State Football is not surprising as a plethora of other power five programs have also reportedly reached out to Spencer, including Michigan State, Florida State and Nebraska among others.

Spencer ranked first among all-Conference USA tackles last season with an 84.7 passing grade allowing only one sack. In 2019 and 2020 he was a Pro Football Focus All-Conference USA First Team selection after posting some of the best pass blocking and run blocking grades in the conference.

The redshirt senior has plenty of experience and accolades and listed at six-foot-four and 300 pounds he fits the bill of a tackle who can play in the Big Ten. If Spencer was to choose Happy Valley as his next destination, he would likely figure as the team’s starting right tackle, taking the place of Caedan Wallace who struggled last season.

With Nourzad already in the fold and likely a starting guard for next season, if Franklin can land Turner this could be what the Nittany Lions need to finally have the offensive line be a strong point next season.
